Walking and Water Activities

Happy New Year from your Walking and Water Advisors,

As the days get longer and spring does not seem so far away I know you will be planning outdoor activities for your summer programme. First we would like to say if you have any questions about the water and walking activities that you are planning please do not hesitate to get in touch. And second, we would love to hear about the water and walking activities that you do as South West region are keen to know how many people are out enjoying the countryside and the water and we can not report on activities we do not know about.

Here a few ideas of how you might enjoy walking and watersports this summer

Walking: orienteering, geocaching and trails

Watersports: canoeing, sailing, dragonboating, kayaking, rafting, stand-up paddleboarding (but please do not report back on swimming)

Finally we like to let you know about some opportunities for walking and water sports offered by south west region:

Senior Section Challenger Challenge 2014

Girlguiding South West England has chartered two 72' Challenger racing yachts for a week from Saturday 26th July to Saturday 2nd August 2014. They are inviting Senior Section Members from across the Regions/Countries (aged 14 and over, but under 26) to join them on this exciting voyage!  

Rolex Fastnet Race 2015

In partnership with the Tall Ships Youth Trust, Girlguiding South West England has chartered a 72' Challenger racing yacht which will be taking part in the Rolex Fastnet Race in August 2015. They are looking for 12 adult Members (aged 18 by the first day of the race) to join them for this extreme, exciting and exhilarating sailing adventure!   

Level 1 Walking Weekend, 20th - 22nd June 2014, Wedmore nr Cheddar. The closing date for bookings is 30th April 2014. 

Level 2 Walking Weekend, 26th - 28th September 2014, Dartmoor. The closing date for bookings is 31st July 2014.
