Can a Young Leader be a Ranger too?

Yes they can! Rangers wear their own uniform, ( meet up regularly, have fun doing activities together and be recognised for their achievements with badges and awards following the six themes.

Whilst as a Young Leader, there is a special Young Leaders uniform


They work towards the Young Leaders Certificate, where they would develop skills in leadership, communiction and team working.There is a workbook on the Girlguiding website designed to help and support you ( )

Can Young Leaders attend trainings?

Yes they can, there are trainings at County Training Days especially for 14-16 Young Leaders, but those who are aged 16 and over may attend any training

What uniform do Young Leaders wear once they reach 18?

At 18 they can become a Leader in Training and wear Adult Leaders uniform

If they do not want to continue with their Adult Leadership certificate, they can become an Adult Support member, where she can choose different roles depending on her circumstances and wear the appropriate Guiding wear.

What happens when a Young Member turns 18?

If a young member wants to become an adult volunteer once they are 18 they must have a letter of recommendation from their leader or commissioner and have an informal meeting with their commissioner before starting their new role.

It will depend on the role she wishes to take but she may need a satisfactory enhanced criminal disclosure check. ( )
