Tavy Division includes the market town of Tavistock, the village of Yelverton and surrounding smaller villages on the western side of Dartmoor.
The towns and villages are fortunate to be among Devon's beautiful country, with a mix of farmland, woodlands and the moor itself. Walking, climbing, riding and other outdoor pursuits are well provided for. Some of the many small specialist shops have contributed to Tavistock's growing reputation as a 'Good food' centre.
The area also includes historical sites from all periods, including Buckland Abbey. Tavistock is also part of the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site, as the area is rich in mining history.
Tavistock and Yelverton are thriving and happy places for girls and adults to enjoy Girlguiding to its fullest. Tavy Girlguiding is usually present at community events, bazaars and parades in the area, not to mentions Tavistock's Guides Christmas post providing deliveries at a reduced price for local residents.
Rainbows, Brownies and Guides meet in Tavistock, Yelverton and Bere Alston and there is also a Ranger section for the locality.
We run camps and sleepovers each year to give as many girls as possible the opportunity to enjoy a residential event.
Our enthusiastic leaders also come together to provide Brownie Revels, which offers an afternoon of activities and socialising.
Once a year every Tavy member meets to celebrate Girlguiding's Thinking Day.
Tavy Division always welcomes committed, enthusiastic women who want to share their knowledge and experience with the area's youth.
