Welcome to our Thanks and Recognition page.
We love to recognise and celebrate the contribution made by our amazing members, volunteers and supporters to Girlguiding Devon. There are many ways we can say thank you and acknowledge someone. This could be through a simple verbal thank you, a thoughtful card, a bunch of flowers or a box of chocolates. Or you may want to nominate this deserving person for one of our lovely awards.
For 2025, we are very excited to be launching 3 brand new awards: Growing Guiding, Inspirational Leader and a Team award. The full list of awards you can recommend or nominate someone for are below:
Girlguiding Devon County Standard
Our most prestigious award, given for exemplary service and for a significant contribution to local guiding.
Girlguiding Devon Star Good Service Award
This award, given by the County Commissioner, recognises exceptional service by those holding a county appointment or for their involvement in a special event or initiative.
Girlguiding Devon County Commissioner’s Special Award
The Special Award recognises young members who have shown an extraordinary response to a situation, event or initiative.
Girlguiding Devon County Inspirational Leader Award *new for 2025
An award to recognise those who lead by example, inspiring young members and fellow volunteers.
Girlguiding Devon County Growing Guiding Award *new for 2025
This new award recognises significant effort in growing guiding at unit, district or division level, having contributed to membership, growth and retention of volunteers and/or young members.
Girlguiding Devon County Team Award *new for 2025
The team award is for any group who have delivered a significant contribution to Girlguiding Devon through a one-off event or ongoing commitment.
Girlguiding Devon Appreciation Award
This award is given as a token of thanks to those who give freely of their time and effort in supporting Girlguiding Devon.

You can even nominate someone for a UK national honour. To discuss this, please contact the Chair of Awards below, who can put you in touch with someone who can support you with this.
Long Service awards are ordered from the County Administrator via our online shop or by using the County Badges order form found in the Administration section of this website. Please note only a District or Division Commissioner can order Long Service badges.
