Plymouth East Division

Plymouth East is at the centre of the city of Plymouth. From the Hoe where Sir Francis Drake famously bowled as the Spanish Armada advance, to the historic Barbican from where the Pilgrim Fathers set sail and later the Tolpuddle Martyrs. The city centre has a plethora of shops, cafes and a very successful Mall for even more retail therapy!

There is also the upwardly mobile area of the Royal William Yard, Naval premises converted to up market dwellings and close by is Brittany Ferries, gateway to France and Spain.

Central to the city is the Minster Church of St Andrews and the Guildhall alongside the 60's architecture of the Civic Centre and the new University buildings which seem to be continually mushrooming out from the centre.

On the outskirts of the city centre are the residential areas of Mutley, Mannamead, Peverell, Mount Gould, Laira, and Eggbuckland, and even further out Roborough, Estover and Leigham.  All these are part of Plymouth East Division.

In short, a vibrant, diverse, colourful, and interesting area for all to enjoy.

Girlguiding in Plymouth East

Girlguiding Plymouth East offers a welcoming community for 360+ girls across 27 active units, from Rainbows to Rangers. Nestled between Dartmoor and the coast, our division gives girls the chance to experience both nature and city life, with activities ranging from coastal conservation and outdoor adventures to creative projects and skill-building events.

Plymouth East units provide a friendly space where members can achieve badges, explore new interests, and engage in community initiatives. From group celebrations to hands-on challenges, girls enjoy a range of experiences that encourage personal growth and strong friendships.

Supported by a dedicated team of volunteers led by our division commissioner, girlguiding Plymouth East is  a place for girls and leaders to learn, laugh, and make a difference. If you’re interested in joining us or volunteering, please register your interest here.
