From coast to moor Teignbridge has something for everyone. From beautiful beaches at Dawlish and Teignmouth right up to the moors at Haytor, the Templar Way forms the walking link with spectacular views and wildlife.
For historians there is Powderham Castle and Buckfast Abbey or for the more active try Chudleigh Rock or one of the many leisure centres in the towns.
Newton Abbot, Dawlish, Teignmouth have theatres and cinemas and there is an abundance of retail therapy throughout the area, both high street chains and independent retailers. The racecourse at Newton Abbot hosts not only national horseracing but also diverse activities such as an annual circus and funfair along with craft and jewellery fairs and even motorbike training.
Girlguiding in Teignbridge
Girlguiding Teignbridge is one of the largest divisions in our county, with over 660 girls across 35+ active units, bringing the excitement of guiding to communities from Newton Abbot to Dawlish. With Dartmoor on our doorstep and coastal areas close by, our members, from Rainbows to Rangers, enjoy unique outdoor experiences like hillwalking, beach activities, and conservation projects.
There is so much to see and do in Teignbridge, with a diverse programs that allow girls to explore their interests, from earning interest and challenge badges and awards to organizing community events. Our girls build lifelong skills and friendships, whether through adventure activities, creative projects, or service initiatives that strengthen their connection to Teignbridge.
Here in Teignbridge we make full use of local facilities like the climbing centre (Dart rock), local trampoline parks, the water sport centres at Teignmouth and Newton Abbot. We also enjoy spending time at the heritage railway at Buckfastleigh, the marble house at Bovey Tracey, and national trust places in the area. For more outside activities we also explore and have adventures in Stover county park and there’s even the little Sheldon zoo. We recently even held our own challenge weeks and it's a much-loved part of our annual calendar.
