Erme Valley Division extends from the edge of Dartmoor National Park to the coast. It is centred around the town of Ivybridge which is also known as the southern Gateway to Dartmoor because both the 102 mile Two Moors Way and the beautiful Erme Valley Trail begin here.
South of Ivybridge lies Modbury where the Georgian houses give an air of quiet elegance to this old market town,. In the other direction is the village of Yealmpton most famous for Old Mother Hubbard's Cottage where the nursery rhyme was written. On the edge of the moor we have Cornwood.
The whole Division is situated in the picturesque area of South Hams with easy access to the A38 which runs between the cities of Plymouth and Exeter. This means that we have the beautiful countryside and coast on our doorstep and all the amenities a city has to offer nearby. We have a number of sleepover locations and a few locations for longer stays with easy access to tourist attractions.
Girlguiding in the Erme Valley
Girlguiding Erme Valley brings together 193 girls across 14 units, offering exciting opportunities for Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, and Rangers to grow, learn, and explore. Nestled in West Devon, Erme Valley units take advantage of both countryside and community settings, participating in activities like outdoor exploration, creative projects, and local service initiatives.
Our units provide a supportive environment where girls can earn badges, develop new skills, and connect through shared adventures. From local gatherings to hands-on workshops and outdoor challenges, Erme Valley girls enjoy a diverse and engaging experience in guiding.
With guidance from our division commissioner and a dedicated team of volunteers, we’re excited to welcome new members and leaders. Interested in joining Girlguiding in Erme Valley? Please register your interest here.
